Description
8-10 George Street in Stranraer is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey shop with a near-square plan and four bays, featuring pends on the outer left and right. The building is harled and painted at the ground level, with a base course and a modern fascia that separates the floors.
On the south elevation, the entrance is located to the right of the central section, featuring a timber glazed door. There are two single windows and one bipartite window at the ground level, along with flanking segmental-arched pends, although only the outer right pend provides pedestrian access. The first floor has regular fenestration.
The ground floor has studio glazing, while the first floor features plate glass timber sash and case glazing, along with a Velux rooflight. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a coped mutual stack shared with Nos 2-6, which includes circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
