Description

17 North Strand Street in Stranraer is an earlier 19th century, two-storey building with an attic and five bays, featuring single storey wing walls. The entrance elevation is constructed from sandstone ashlar, while the sides are made of sandstone rubble. Notable architectural details include a base course, curved stone brackets supporting the cornice, and a blocking course. The windows are architraved.

On the west (entrance) elevation, there are steps leading to a central doorpiece, which has scrolled consoles at the cornice and a keystone. The entrance features a two-leaf modern door and a fanlight, with a single window directly above it on the first floor. The flanking bays have regular fenestration, and there are canted dormers on the outer left and right sides of the attic. A window is located on the wing wall to the outer left, while a boarded timber door is found on the wing wall to the outer right.

The building has plate glass timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, stone skews, and a decorative cornice on the gablehead stacks with corniced cans.

The interior was not seen in 1997.
