26, 28 Main Street, New Luce

26 and 28 Main Street in New Luce is a cottage dating from the early to earlier 19th century. Originally a single-storey, three-bay structure, it was expanded with two additional bays to the north between 1840 and 1846, creating a five-bay pair of cottages, with number 26 occupying the two bays on the right. The building is rendered and features a base course.

On the east elevation facing Main Street, there are doors in the bays to the left and right of the centre, with windows in the remaining bays. The north elevation is adjacent to a taller building, number 24 Main Street. The south elevation has a window on the right side.

The cottage has plate glass glazing in its sash and case windows, and painted rubble stacks, with a gablehead on the south side and a ridge located between the third and fourth bays. The roof is covered with small grey slates, with larger slates above the two bays on the right.
