Description
16 Main Street in Kirkcolm is a cottage dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a single storey and attic, three-bay structure that is part of a terrace. The building is harled with a painted base course and painted raised tabbed margins.
On the east elevation facing Main Street, there is a door at the center and windows in the outer bays. Above the outer bays, there are gabled and slate-hung dormer windows. The external finish of the cottage extends onto the neighboring building to the left.
The south elevation is adjoined to a taller building, No 14 Main Street, known as Rose Cottage, which is listed separately. The north elevation is adjoined to No 18 Main Street.
The cottage features modern timber top-hopper glazing and has a mutual gablehead stack on the north side. The roof is covered with purple-grey slates and has octagonal cans.
