Description

Manor Lodge is a late 19th-century lodge situated near Corsewall. It is a single-storey building with an attic, designed in an L-shape. The exterior is constructed from squared and snecked rubble stone, with ashlar stone dressings that include tabbed margins and long and short quoins.

The south elevation features a gabled section on the right. A gabled stone porch is set into the angle where the two wings meet, with a door facing south and a window on the return. A bipartite window is located to the left. To the right, a piended (hipped) canted window is positioned beneath a window in the gablehead. The west elevation, facing the main street, has a gable to the left, with a tripartite window. Above the window is a moulded panel, and another window is in the gablehead. A modern flat-roofed addition is situated on the left side.

The windows are fitted with uPVC frames, featuring top-hung upper sashes. The roof has overhanging eaves and is covered with small grey-green slates, accented by pierced terracotta ridge tiles.

Low rubble walls run alongside the lodge, supported by plain railings. Three painted, chamfered gatepiers with tapering conical caps mark the entrance, but there are currently no gates present.

Manor Lodge does not appear on the Ordnance Survey map of 1847. Other listed buildings within the Corsewall estate include the bridge, dovecot, farm buildings, main house, stable, and walled garden.
