20 Main Street, Kirkcolm

20 Main Street in Kirkcolm is a cottage dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a single storey and attic structure with three bays, part of a terrace, and features painted render with painted architraved margins.

The east elevation facing Main Street has a central door with a three-pane letter-box fanlight above it, and windows in the outer bays. There are canted and piended dormer windows above the outer bays as well.

On the south elevation, the cottage is adjoined to No 18 Main Street. The north elevation is connected to a taller building, No 22 Main Street, known as Stewarton House, which is listed separately.

The original four-pane glazing in the sash and case windows has been replaced by uPVC glazing. The roof is covered with small grey slates, and there is a mutual gablehead stack on the south side.
