Description
5 Main Street in Mochrum is a cottage dating from the early to earlier 19th century. It is a single-storey building with an attic and features three bays, arranged as two on the left and one on the right, and includes a shop. The exterior is finished in painted rubble.
On the east elevation facing Main Street, there is a pend entrance to the left, leading to a panelled door for the cottage that is set back. To the right within the pend is the door to the shop. The windows are located in the centre and right bays, with the centre bay previously having a door. There is a canted and piended dormer window at the centre, which was added after 1910.
The south elevation is attached to No 3 Main Street, and the north elevation is adjoined to No 7 Main Street, both of which are listed separately.
The windows feature plate glass glazing set in timber sash and case frames. The building has granite coped mutual skews, broad painted rubble mutual stacks, and is covered with graded grey slates.
