Description

The Auction Mart on Matthew's Loaning in Lockerbie is likely a late 19th century structure. It features an octagonal plan and is constructed of red brick with contrasting yellow banding and decorative elements. The building has tall round-arched openings adorned with nail-head detailing and bull's head keystones. At the eaves level, there are horizontal timber-louvred openings and brick corbelling on alternating faces. The roof is facetted and covered with slate, topped by a tall lantern that has a louvred top and a large onion finial.
