Description

48-50 English Street in Dumfries is a building dated 1806, featuring three storeys and four bays. The ground floor is occupied by a public house that was altered in 1985. The exterior is made of painted droved ashlar with margins. The public house has slim shafts topped with foliated capitals, pilasters, and an entablature that continues over the pedestrian passage on the left. There are string courses at both cill levels, and the building has sash windows, some of which have a 12-pane glazing pattern. It has end stacks and has been re-roofed with concrete tiles.
