Description

Dated 1884. Exceptionally-large 2-storey farmhouse; plainer

lower 3-bay east service range now a separate house. Stugged

and snecked red ashlar with polished dressings. Windows

mostly either bipartite or canted with plate glass sashes.

Main house range: T-plan; north and south elevations each 3

bays, each westmost bay advanced, with canted windows

(corbelled oriel on circular column at south) and shaped

gables; 5-bay west elevation: central entrance bay advanced,

angles canted at ground, corbelled to square above, with

shaped gable; hood-moulded depressed-arched doorway has

moulded reveals with dog-tooth ornament; corbelled oriel

above; 3 west-facing gables, tall stair window central, 3

lights with cusped heads. Bracketted cornice. Weather vane

finial over north gable; skews; corniced stacks; slate roofs.

Square gatepiers to north west with gableted caps; curved

short quadrant walls all red ashlar.
