Lochvale House, Georgetown Road, Dumfries

Lochvale House is a probably early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house that has undergone alterations later in the century. These alterations include the addition of a large jamb to the west side and the raising of flanking wings to two storeys, which feature pedimented gables. The building is constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings and rusticated quoins, all of which are painted. It has slated roofs.

The original house features a central east-facing door that is located behind a later Roman Doric-columned porch. The ground floor windows have cornices, and there is an eaves and lintel band. The house includes sash windows and end stacks, topped with a piended slate roof. The jamb also has rusticated quoins and a canted window. The wings have band courses, and a low bay adjoining the south wing was heightened in brick, with a former rusticated doorway that was altered in 1986 to form a window.

Inside, the house boasts good cornice plasterwork, timber doorcases, and a staircase, along with a painted glass stair window.
