Description

31 Church Street in Stranraer is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey and attic, three-bay classical townhouse. The building features a painted render finish and includes a base course, with flanking pilasters at the ground floor windows that are linked across the elevation by a corniced frieze. The first-floor windows are architraved and have small brackets supporting the cills.

On the southwest entrance elevation, there is a central doorpiece with columns and a pediment, featuring a six-panel timber door and a letterbox fanlight above it. A single window is aligned above the door on the first floor, with single windows in the flanking bays. To the left at ground level, there is a modern replacement window that is bipartite. The attic has canted dormers on the outer left and right sides.

The left side at ground level has modern windows, while the right side features timber sash and case windows on both the ground and first floors, along with a modern rooflight. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, and there are cast-iron rainwater goods. The interior was not seen in 1997.
