Description

The Parish Church Hall and Burial-Ground on Bridge Street in Stranraer was built in 1821. It is a two-storey, three-bay rectangular church hall with a small rectangular single-storey wing on the southeast side. The entrance elevation features painted render, while the sides are finished in painted rubble. Architectural details include a base course, lintel course, cornice, and quoin strips. The openings have moulded surrounds, with decorative consoled cornices on the ground floor and moulded brackets on the upper openings.

On the north (entrance) elevation, there is a central block with a pedimented entrance doorpiece that has a bracketed cornice, a two-leaf timber door, and a letterbox fanlight. A single window is aligned above on the first floor, with additional single windows on both floors of the flanking bays.

The east side elevation has three single windows on both the ground and first floors, while the west side elevation features three single windows on the ground floor, a timber door on the outer right, and two bipartite windows on the first floor. The building has a variety of glazing patterns, a piend roof, a coped stack, and a circular can.

Inside, there is a decorative stained glass screen in the entrance porch, and a timber staircase that leads to a gallery on the first floor, which is now blocked and tiled. The ground floor has a timber floor and dado panelling, plasterwork on the ceiling, and deep window reveals. A door on the southeast side leads to the single-storey addition and the graveyard.

The graveyard is a small area located to the east of the church hall. The boundary walls consist of coped brick walls on the outer left and painted rubble walls on the outer right.
