Description

The grain store located at 9 Bridge Street in Stranraer is a mid-19th century, four-bay, three-storey building designed in an L-plan. It is constructed of painted brick and features projecting cills and overhanging timber eaves on its gabled dormers.

On the north elevation, which faces the entrance, there is a carriage archway leading to a courtyard, with a two-leaf timber door. Above the left bay, a gabled loft dormer contains a two-leaf timber entrance at ground level, with timber loading bays on the first and second floors. The right side has regular fenestration across two bays, while there is no window at ground level on the outer left.

The east elevation features a gabled loft dormer above the right bay at the re-entrant angle, with a two-leaf timber entrance at ground level and timber loading bays on the first and second floors, along with regular fenestration in the flanking bays.

The west elevation is a blank gable, while the south elevation has regular boarded fenestration. The building predominantly has timber louvred openings, with some timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has stone skews.

The interior was not seen in 1997. The property is enclosed by a brick boundary wall, which includes a lean-to structure on the west side.
