Description
The library in Wanlockhead, dated 1850, is a small village library that is a single storey with a rectangular plan. It features three bays and large 12-pane sash windows on the south side. There is a porch with a datestone and a south-facing door that adjoins the east gable. The exterior is made of whitewashed rubble with contrasting painted margins, straight skews, end stacks, and slate roofs. There are two plaques on the south wall.
Inside, the library has fitted bookshelves along three walls, topped with a cornice at the coved ceiling. The book collection is noted for its great social interest. The library is partly enclosed by plain rubble-built walls.
