Description
Wanlockhead Church, built in 1848, is a rectangular-plan, four-bay Gothic church. It features whitewashed rubble with ashlar dressings, while the west gable is harled. The church has pointed openings with hood-moulded windows and a gabled porch at the west end of the north wall. A vestry is located diagonally opposite, and the structure includes stepped buttresses. The east gable has a three-light window, while the west window is blocked. The roof is adorned with saw-toothed skews and cross finials, covered with graded slates.
Inside, the church is now partitioned, with only the eastern half used for services. It contains a pulpit with steps on either side and a leaded east window created by Wm. Meikle and Sons of Glasgow in 1911. The interior also features painted dados and simple stencilling.
