Description
The building at No. 141 High Street, originally a house and now serving as a public library, dates back to around 1800. It is constructed of roughcast brick and features a plain-tile roof with brick stacks at either end. The structure has three storeys, with the second floor having reduced proportions, and is topped with a plain coped parapet that includes a parapet band.
The façade consists of five bays, showcasing glazing bar sash windows, with the central lights being larger than the others. The first and second floor windows are accented with sill bands. A central part-glazed door leads into the building, topped by a rectangular overlight that contains patterned glazing bars. This entrance is framed by a Roman Doric porch, which is adorned with fluted columns, triglyphs, and a moulded cornice hood.
Inside, the front door opens into an entrance hall that provides access to the other ground floor rooms. These rooms feature marble fireplaces that date back to around 1800.
