Description

Earlier/mid 18th century with 19th century alterations. 2-storey, 3-bay farmhouse at S end of courtyard steading,

with recessed low W wing, main roof swept down to one and a

half storeys to courtyard. Rubble-built with ashlar margins;

whitewashed to court. S elevation; 3 unequal bays; altered

inner doorway (modern door) with pulvinated frieze and

cornice asymmetrically placed over architrave; ground floor

windows slightly enlarged in 19th century, original 1st floor

windows with chamfered reveals (2 with modern glazing);

moulded cornice; end stacks; slate roof. Courtyard elevation

has off-centre door in lugged bolection-moulded architrave,

contemporary window to right with chamfered margins; other

openings not original; wide wall-head gable with casement

windows. W wing built on slope with basement, forestair at

NW, stone platform on W flank rests on square monolith and

supports oil tank.
