Description
The chimney stack at Annandale Distillery dates from the early to mid-19th century and has undergone several phases of construction and alterations. It is part of a Z-plan range of a former distillery, which includes a kiln pagoda added in the late 19th century. The structure is primarily built from rubble with ashlar dressings and is mostly whitewashed, set against a slope.
The tall circular yellow brick stack to the east is now isolated. The south range is three storeys high, while the west side features one and a half storeys with an iron-railed basement area. Inside, cast-iron columns support the grain floors, and the pagoda is centrally located on the long inner range. The north range has been gutted and features wide slapping in the west gable. The roofs are slate, and the pagoda has leaded roofing topped with a globe finial. The stack itself is battered and has flared corbels that support a plain cornice.
