Description

Warmanbie is a small mansion built around 1820-1830, now functioning as a hotel. It features a Greek Revival style with two stories and symmetrical three-bay elevations. To the east, there is a low service court likely added around 1840. The exterior is made of polished red ashlar, with plain unmargined windows that have projecting sills, mostly featuring a 12-pane glazing pattern.

The south elevation has a central enclosed porch supported by two widely spaced, baseless, unfluted Tuscan columns. The front door has been replaced with a modern version, while the flanking doors are connected to the columns by unusual ashlar screens with pilasters. The west elevation includes a two-window bowed central bay and two blind windows on the first floor, with one ground floor window now serving as a glazed door. The east elevation features a shallow advanced bay with a pediment and a semi-circular light in the tympanum. A cornice and blocking course run along all elevations, and the roof is piended and platformed, covered with slate and lead, featuring two pairs of symmetrically placed stacks with ashlar flues.

The courtyard is formed by two low wings, with the south elevation faced in stugged ashlar and coping, concealing a lean-to roof raised over the outer bays and gabled over the window.

Inside, there is a central cantilevered stair with wrought-iron balusters beneath a cupola. The interior also includes some decorative and moulded cornice plasterwork and marble chimneypieces. Notably, the black marble chimneypiece in the northwest ground floor room (the dining room) features thin Greek Doric columns, while the ground floor southwest room (the office) has fitted recessed bookshelves.
