Description
The Stable Building at Mount Annan dates from the earlier 19th century and incorporates some earlier materials, with various alterations. It is designed in a U-shape and features classical details, standing two storeys tall. The structure is constructed from red rubble, partly stugged and squared, with ashlar dressings and margins. The central range includes a flat-arched pend and a pediment facing the courtyard, while the flanking ranges have pedimented gables made of ashlar. The eastern range has some domestic features and two different roof pitches. The western range includes a lean-to shelter supported by cast-iron columns in the courtyard, with mostly square upper windows linked to an eaves band. The windows are primarily small-paned sash windows, along with some boarded or louvered loft openings. The building has axial stacks and is topped with slated or corrugated asbestos roofs.
