Description
The Brick and Tile Works at Terally, opened around 1840, features the remains of a brick and tile manufacturing facility. The site includes a two-chambered rectangular downdraught kiln, dating from around 1900, constructed of red brick with cream brick margins and a wallhead course. The kiln has battered side walls and two barrel-vaulted chambers, each with a round-arched opening to the west. The east wall of each chamber has largely been removed, and there are four fire-boxes in each chamber.
Additionally, there are remains of a tapering square-plan chimney from around 1900, made of red brick with cream brick quoins and a metal framework. A tall rectangular-plan brick shed, likely used for housing machinery, features machinery doors on its gabled east and west elevations and has a corrugated metal roof. Nearby, there are flooded clay pits.
