Description

The building is a brick kiln located on Honey End Lane, dating from the mid-19th century. It is the best preserved of the Reading brickworks established in 1977. The kiln has an oval plan made of red brick, featuring a battered plinth that serves as the ground floor. There is one additional floor above, topped with a tin roof and a rounded end. A tall, square brick chimney is situated to the north-west, with a central opening facing south. The main structure has six arches on each side, along with smaller arches, known as dampers, to the left. Inside, the ground level features a vaulted ambulatory with both oval and rectangular feed-holes.
