Description
The Corn Drying Kiln at Atholl Bank Cottage, located in Old Bridge of Tilt, Blair Atholl, dates from the first half of the 19th century. This rectangular building is constructed of rubble and has two storeys, set into the bank on the southwest side. It features a door on the northwest elevation and another in the gable at the southwest, along with a small window on the upper floor in the southeast. The building is topped with a slate roof that includes roof lights.
Inside, there is an unusual circular kiln made of rubble, which has a wire mesh kiln floor and a tapered opening that is now blocked, likely once used as a chute for dried grain. The base of the kiln features an arched firebox, with the sides lined with stone and brick.
