Description
Red Lodge, Cargen House, is a late 19th century single-storey lodge with a roughly cruciform plan. It is constructed of polished red ashlar stone. The south and east gables feature canted four-light windows, and there is a lean-to porch located in the re-entrant angle between them. The building has projecting eaves and ornamental bargeboards, an axial stack, and a slate roof.
The lodge is supported by corniced square piers with vermiculated quoins and curved quadrant walls, also made of red ashlar. Decorative cast-iron gates enhance the entrance.
