Description
Kingholm Quay was rebuilt around 1836-1840. It is a long quay constructed along the east bank of the River Nith, with a pier projecting at the northern end and a harbour inlet formed alongside it. The long southern face of the quay serves as a bank. The structure is made of neatly coursed, large red ashlar blocks. There are steps leading to the waterside on both the pier and the inlet, along with cast-iron and timber bollards. A stream entering the inlet from the north was intended to prevent silting.
