Ladyfield East

Ladyfield East is a classical villa likely built in the 1820s or 1830s, with a rear wing added and alterations made in 1843, along with 20th-century additions to the south. This two-storey, three-bay villa has an approximately T-plan layout and features a semi-sunk basement, set within large wooded grounds with a west-facing entrance.

The west elevation showcases a classicised central porch with pilasters at the chamfered angles, a frieze, cornice, and blocking course, flanked by a curved flight of steps on either side of the door. It also has a base course, a banded cill course at the first floor, an eaves course, and a cornice. Above the entrance, there is a Venetian style window set in a recessed, gabled panel.

The entrance elevation is constructed of broached ashlar, while the other elevations are mainly rubble-built with ashlar margins, all of which are painted. The windows feature raised margins, and the roof is covered with piended slate, although the stacks have been removed.

The interior, as observed in 2013, has been largely altered. The vestibule is classically decorated, with Doric columns framing the entrance to the elevated hall, which is accessed by steps. A cantilevered stair with decorative cast-iron balusters remains at the end of the hall.
