Description
Dungowan is an early 19th century single-storey former gate lodge with an irregular octagon plan, located in Mabie Forest near Dumfries. It features a small later addition to the south and is constructed of whitewashed rubble with ashlar margins, eaves, and base courses. The northeast elevation has a depressed-arched entrance door, while each side has single pointed arched windows with intersecting wooden tracery. The roof is covered with graded slate and has overhanging eaves, along with a central ashlar chimney stack. A coped stone wall extends to the south.
