Description
Gass Farm is a building from the later 19th century, likely incorporating earlier materials. It consists of a double byre range and a calf shed, constructed of rubble with deep yellow brick arch rings and margins, and granite quoins. The windows are segmental-arched, and the roof is covered with small grey slates, featuring red sandstone coped skews. The gableheads are raised to accommodate ridge ventilators.
The calf shed has a round-arched cart entrance on the north side and an oculus in the gablehead, with another oculus in the gablehead on the south side. It has six bays on the east side, with doors in the penultimate bays and windows in the remaining bays.
The byre range has an M-gabled roof to the west, with entrances and oculi in both gableheads. There are seven windows and a door on the south side. An earlier gabled and piended barn is attached to the left (east), while a modern building is attached to the right. There is a round arch in the higher gable to the left (north), with a door to the left and seven windows. A single-storey range to the south contains a cottage.
