Half Way House

This is a circa 1840 house, formerly an inn, with a detached barn nearby. The main house is a two-storey, symmetrical building with three bays across the front, accompanied by a single-storey wing extending to the right. Constructed of painted rubble with raised painted cills, the front features a central, gabled, single-storey porch. This porch is flanked by single windows on the ground and first floors. The first-floor windows are set within gablets. All windows are sash and case, with 12 panes of glazing. The single-storey wing has a blank front elevation, but to the rear, it features a door flanked by 12-pane windows and a loft door in the gablehead. The roof is slate, with bracketed eaves to the gablets. The building has end skews, corniced end stacks topped with tall, individual ashlar cans. The name "Half Way House" is displayed above the front door. The detached barn is rectangular and stands close to the house on the left.
