Description
The cottages at Carscreugh Castle date from the mid to late 19th century and consist of a single storey, six-bay structure arranged in a three-three configuration, with a late 19th-century addition at the rear. The exterior is made of lightly painted rubble, featuring red sandstone protruding cills. The building is currently in derelict condition.
On the south elevation, the doors are located in the penultimate bays, while the remaining bays contain windows. The north elevation has a piend-roofed addition at the center, which includes windows to the east and west, and is accented by brick quoins.
The east and west elevations are gabled and feature blank walls. There are remnants of sash and case windows that originally had plate glass glazing. The structure has red sandstone coped skews and painted rubble gablehead stacks on the east and west sides, along with a ridge stack at the center and a brick ridge stack on the piended block. The roof is covered with small grey slates and features an octagonal can on the east side.
