Description
Woodbank, located at 143 Main Street in Glenluce, is a pair of single-storey and attic cottages dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. The cottages have three bays each, with No 141 featuring a harled exterior and a painted rubble west elevation, while No 143 has a rubble exterior with a painted rubble east elevation. Both cottages have painted raised margins.
On the south elevation facing Main Street, each cottage has a central door flanked by windows, although the doors and letter-box fanlights are modern. A garden wall is attached to the left of No 141 and to the right of No 143.
The west elevation of No 141 is gabled and blank, while the east elevation of No 143 is also gabled and blank. No 141 has modern timber-framed glazing, and No 143 has modern glazing. Each cottage features slate-hung piended dormer windows above the outer bays. The cottages have coped skews, mutual and to the southwest, and painted rubble stacks at the gable ends, with one stack on the east and one on the west, as well as a mutual stack between the cottages. No 141 is covered with purple slates, while No 143 has modern tiles. Both cottages have a full complement of octagonal chimney cans.
The garden walls consist of rubble and extend along the long front gardens to the east, south, and west, with semicircular tile coping on the south side. There is a post box marked "GR" set into the wall to the southwest.
