Description
Dowans and Sharpies, located at No. 43 and 43B Conicavel, is an early 19th-century pair of single-storey cottages with a dormerless attic. They are symmetrical and face west, featuring two bays each with canopied entrances in the outer bays. The cottages are constructed of rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. They have double-leaf plank doors and 4-pane glazing, with chamfered ashlar angles that include run-off stops at wallhead height. A renewed brick stack is located at the centre ridge, and the roof is covered with graded local slate and has a jerkin head design with ashlar soffits.
At the rear, there is a later single-storey harled extension with a piended slate roof. Additionally, there is a timber lean-to shed at the rear of No. 43.
