Description
86-88 Irish Street in Dumfries is an Italianate office building dating from around 1860. It stands three storeys tall and features six bays, with the inner two bays being more prominent. The building has a double porch supported by square columns, which is adorned with balustrades and urn finials. The exterior is made of droved red ashlar stone, accented with polished dressings and architraves. The first-floor windows are topped with consoled pediments, while the ground floor windows have segmental heads. The third-floor windows feature lugged architraves. There are string courses at each cill level, a bracketed cornice, and chimney stacks at either end of the building. The roof is covered with slate.
