42-44 George Street, Whithorn

42-44 George Street in Whithorn is a pair of two-storey, three-bay houses built around 1800, with shops on the ground floor at Numbers 42 and 44, and a former shop at Number 46.

The houses at Numbers 42 and 44 are constructed of painted rubble with raised painted margins. Number 42 features a shop window and door on the left, with a house door and a small light to the right. The first floor has three regularly spaced sash and case windows with plate glass glazing. The building has skews to the right, end coped stacks, and a good graded slate roof.

Number 46 also has rubble walling with painted raised angle and window margins, and an eaves course. Originally, there were paired doorways on the ground floor, but the doorway on the right has been converted into a window. All windows are single light sash and case with plate glass glazing. The building has end skews, coped end stacks, and a good graded slate roof.
