53 George Street And Whithorn Priory Gateway, Whithorn

53 George Street is a later 18th century, two-storey, irregular three-bay house located in Whithorn. The exterior features painted harled walling with a door positioned to the right. To the left, there are two single light windows, while the first floor has two windows that are smaller and fitted with plate glass glazing. The ground floor windows have 12-pane glazing. A tall coped stack with a thackstane is situated to the right, and the building has slate roofs.

The pend features a wide-arched opening supported by clustered nook shafts that have moulded bases and caps. This area displays the heraldic achievement of the Vaus family, from which the arch springs. Above the arch, two windows from the adjoining dwelling house (No 55) flank a heraldic panel that showcases the Royal Arms of Scotland.
