36-38 George Street, Whithorn

36-38 George Street in Whithorn is a pair of terraced houses built in the earlier 19th century, standing two stories tall. Number 38 features a modern shop front on the ground floor. The buildings are constructed of squared and coursed masonry, which is painted, and include a base course and a moulded cornice. There are steps leading up to the doorways.

Number 36 has a three-bay ground floor with a door located on the outer right, a window in the center, and another window to the left. The first floor has two irregularly placed windows. The deep-set door has a plate glass fanlight above it, and the sash and case windows have a four-pane glazing pattern. Number 38 has a modern shop front on the ground floor and three regularly placed first-floor windows, which feature a twelve-pane glazing pattern in sash and case style.

Both houses have mutual and end gable red sandstone ashlar stacks, and the roofs are covered with rubberoid tiles, topped with a sandstone ridge.
