Description
26 Regent Street in Portobello, Edinburgh, is an early 19th-century, single-storey terraced house with a basement, originally built as a two-bay classical structure and now subdivided into two houses. The exterior features painted polished ashlar stone, with painted droved ashlar on the basement. A band course separates the basement from the ground floor, complemented by a cornice and blocking course. The windows are architraved.
On the southeast (principal) elevation, there are steps leading up to a pilastered and corniced door on the outer left, which has a deep-set panelled door and a radial rectangular fanlight above it. To the right of the door, there is a window at basement level, and another window in the bay to the right at ground level. There is an entrance door to the extreme right, which leads to the lower house at the basement.
The northwest (rear) elevation has not been seen since 1994. The building features 12-pane timber sash and case windows and has a grey slate roof with rendered mutual stacks.
The boundary wall is made of rubble with coping.
