Description
This building, located at 60 and 60A George Street in Edinburgh, dates from around 1775, with later additions from the 19th century. It is a four-storey, three-bay former classical house that features a shop built out at the ground level during the later 19th century. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone ashlar, which has been stone cleaned, and includes polished dressings. The shopfront is corniced and contains modern plate glass windows along with a door leading to the upper floors. The second floor retains an eaves cornice, which is situated below a later third floor that has a bracketed cill course and cornice.
The building has timber sash and case windows with plate glass. It also features stone stacks and is topped with grey slates. The interior was not inspected in 1995.
