63 George Street, Edinburgh

This building at 63 George Street in Edinburgh dates from around 1775 and has undergone later alterations. It is a three-storey and attic former classical house with a shop added at the ground level. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone ashlar. The modern shopfront features a plain polished ashlar frame that includes an entrance to the upper floors on the left side. There is a flag pole at the first floor. On the second floor, the central window is blind, and there are small decorative cast-iron balconies flanking the windows. The building also has a pair of later 19th century canted piend-roofed dormers.

The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass. The building has ashlar coped skews, a rendered stack on the east side, and is covered with grey slates. The interior was not seen in 1995.
