27 George Street, Edinburgh

27 George Street is a former classical house built around 1780, which was refronted in the mid-19th century and has undergone later alterations at the ground level. The building is four stories high and features three bays, constructed from cream sandstone ashlar. The ground floor has a projecting shopfront with a consoled cornice and a solid parapet, although it now includes a modern plate glass shopfront.

On the first and second floors, there is a central canted bay with reduced mouldings, flanked by windows that have lugged architraves. The building is topped with a modillioned cornice and a balustraded parapet. The windows are timber casements, with sash and case style on the third floor. A flagpole is located at the first floor, and the roof is covered with grey slates.

The interior has been largely modernised for commercial use.
