79-79A Princes Street, Edinburgh

79-79A Princes Street is a late 18th century building that has undergone mid 19th and 20th century additions and alterations. It is a four-storey structure with an attic and features a three-bay shop front. The exterior is made of painted droved sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The ground and first floors have modern granite-faced shopfronts, with the first floor shopfront being earlier and featuring multi-pane glazing. The original second floor retains a former eaves cornice. The later third floor includes a pair of bipartite round-headed windows and a central blind panel, along with a bracketed cornice and a small coped parapet. The building has a later mansard roof with a pair of large multi-pane box dormers.

The second and third floors have timber sash and case plate glass windows, while the first and fourth floors feature casement windows. The roof is covered with grey slates and has stone stacks.
