Boundary Walls And Gate-Piers, 8B Salisbury Road, 8A, 8, Edinburgh

This building, located at 8B Salisbury Road, 8A, and 8 in Edinburgh, dates back to 1815 and features a two-storey structure with a basement. It is a three-bay, symmetrical classical house with a central bay that is advanced. The ground and first floors are constructed of droved cream sandstone ashlar, while the basement is made of rubble. The design includes a base course, a cill course for the first-floor windows, a cornice, and a blocking course.

On the north (entrance) elevation, there is a central tripartite doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, supported by Doric columns that frame the corniced doorpiece. Above the doorway, there is a single window on the first floor, along with additional windows in the outer left and right bays. The ground floor windows are set within round-arched panels.

The windows are 4-pane, plate glass, timber, sash and case style. The roof is a grey slate piended design with a platform, featuring two ashlar coped stacks with moulded cans.

The interior was not seen in 1995.

The property is also accompanied by high, coped rubble boundary walls along the street, which are lower in front of the house, and a low wall to the area. The tall gatepiers feature arched panels and concave pyramidal caps.
