Description

1767-8; subsequent alterations. 2-storey and attic pair of 2-bay semi-detached classical houses, now electrical sub-station. Sandstone rubble (some red) with ashlar dressings. At centre, pair of corniced architraved doorpieces with central wrought-iron lamp bracket. Flanked by 2 bays to each side; to S, projecting corniced tripartite window at ground; larger windows at 1st floor. Eaves cornice; open-pedimented ashlar wallhead dormer to S with canted slate-hung slides; piend-roofed tripartite dormer to N.

Irregular gable end with garage door created at ground. Rear elevation with further openings created at ground.

Timber sash and case windows. Ashlar coped skews; grey slates; stone stacks.

INTERIOR: not seen 1995; now electricity sub-station.

FORECOURT WITH BOUNDARY WALLS, GATEPIERS, GATES AND RAILINGS: ashlar coped rubble walls enclose forecourt; iron gates with thistle fretwork. Ashlar footings and modern railings mark site of former well (?). Pair of corniced gatepiers with flattened pyramidal copes.
