Description

This electricity substation, built in the early 20th century, features rock-faced sandstone with ashlar dressings and a chamfered parapet that conceals the roof. The building has two low storeys and a six-bay front. On the left end, there are tall boarded double doors, while the other openings consist of windows that are either pivoting or top-hung. The ground floor windows are double transomed and the upper floor windows have three panes. All openings are chamfered, with four-centred heads on the ground floor and square-headed designs on the upper floor. The five-bay river front mirrors the street front but lacks the double doors. The interior has not been inspected. This substation is included for its group value with Lendal Bridge and the associated City Wall.
