Description

17th century. 2-storey, 2-bay former house (now converted to electricity substation). Harled, exposed stone surrounds to windows and door.

SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: large doorway to right; window to left. Small 1st floor window above door; lamp to left; window to far left. 1st floor windows hug eaves. 1st floor jettied slightly to left.

SW ELEVATION: plain gable; rough rubble stone work visible under harl; exposed rubble stone wall attached to left.

NW ELEVATION: not seen, 2001.

NE ELEVATION: adjoining 20 Mid Causeway.

Timber sash and case and casement windows. 2-leaf timber boarded door. Pitched roof; raised crowstepped skews. Gable apex stacks.

INTERIOR: gutted inside; ground floor ceiling removed. Some features visible including fireplace on SW gable wall; large sandstone lintel. Stone surround to 1st floor fireplace above. NW wall, ground floor window to right; 1st floor window to far left; stone surrounds to all. NE wall, ground floor door surround to left; 1st floor door surround centred above. Modern tiled floor; modern electricity equipment.
