Electricity Sub-Station, 22 Mid Causeway, Culross

The building at 22 Mid Causeway in Culross is a 17th to 18th century electricity sub-station that was originally a 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan house, with a modern single-storey extension added to the northeast. The exterior is harled, featuring stone surrounds around the door and windows.

On the southeast elevation, there is a central door flanked by single windows on the ground floor. Above, there are three first-floor windows that are centered and hug the eaves. The extension is located to the right, with a window to the left and a modern garage door to the right.

The southwest elevation is attached to the electricity substation. The northwest elevation has a door to the right with a window above it, and two windows to the left of the door, with an additional first-floor window above the far left window. There is also a window to the left and a first-floor dormer window above it. A single-storey section is located at the far left, which includes a door and a window.

The northeast elevation features a plain gable. The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, with remaining shutter rebates and hinges. There is a replacement timber boarded door and a replacement tirling pin. The rear of the building has replacement fenestration and a door. The roof is pitched and covered with clay pantiles, featuring a gable apex stack to the northeast and a stack that is shared with the adjacent house to the southwest.

The interior was not seen in 2001.
