Description

This is a former electricity sub-station, dating from the period of the Mumbles Railway. It is constructed of brown brick with concrete dressings and has a flat roof concealed behind a plain parapet. The building has round-arched windows with an impost band and small-pane metal glazing incorporating marginal lights. Five windows face the road to the west, while a doorway with a missing hood and a louvred vent are located on the left-hand end. The south end wall features two lunettes and a broad doorway on the left. A six-bay Tuscan portico faces the sea, above which are two lunettes, and the parapet is inscribed with the words 'Blackpill’ in raised lettering. The north elevation contains two lunettes. The machinery has been removed, but the interior retains a tiled floor and I-beams supporting the ceiling.
