Ladycroft Cottage, 10 Ladycroft, Balerno

Ladycroft Cottage is an early 19th century cottage, which may incorporate elements from an earlier building and has undergone alterations in the late 19th century. It is a single-storey, four-bay, nearly symmetrical cottage with a rectangular plan and features a flat-roofed porch addition on the northwest side. The exterior is constructed of rubble, partially harled and limewashed, with droved quoins.

On the southwest elevation, there are four bays. A modern door is located in the penultimate bay to the left, with a 4-pane sash and case window to the outer left and a bipartite window with a stone mullion to the outer right. The low, flat-roofed porch addition is recessed to the outer left and has a door at its center.

The northeast elevation consists of two bays grouped to the left of center, featuring a window and a door, along with a small window to the outer left of the door. The windows include 6-pane over plate glass sash and case windows, as well as 4-pane sash and case windows. The roof is pantiled with an easing course, stone coping to the skews, and a rendered and coped ridge stack with thack-stane. The porch addition is covered with corrugated sheeting.

The interior was not seen in 1993. The property is enclosed by a high rubble boundary wall with pyramidal coping on the northeast and northwest sides.
