Description
The dovecot at Malleny House, located in Edinburgh, dates from the earlier 18th century. It has a rectangular plan and is built in two stages with crowstepped gables. Positioned to the southeast of the main front of Malleny House, the structure is constructed of rubble with partial harling, featuring ashlar margins and dressings, stugged quoins, and a rat course. The eaves course continues as a string course at the gables. On the northeast gable, there is a piended dormer with nine flight-holes, and a low door is situated on the southwest elevation. The dovecot contains 915 nesting boxes and is topped with a grey slate roof, crowstepped gables, and beak skewputts.
